WIRELESS CHARGER: HOW DOES WIRELESS CHARGING WITH QI TECHNOLOGY WORK?

The acronym Qi refers to a specific technology, i.e. a charging standard that allows you to exchange energy wirelessly between compatible devices. We will see below the advantages of using a wireless charging system and which products are most suitable for each device.

WHAT IS QI TECHNOLOGY

As mentioned in the introduction, the Qi charging standard, devised by the Wireless Power Consortium, allows wireless charging thanks to Wireless Charge technology. This way of powering electronic devices uses electromagnetic induction, generating current only through contact between device and charging station.

The presence of a Qi standard regulating wireless charging means that quality parameters must be met in order for a safe exchange of energy to take place. The tests to obtain Qi certification are numerous but essential to be sure that no damage is done to one's devices.

Manufacturers can use this certification to integrate Qi technology into chargers and smartphones, which will then be compatible with each other, resulting in devices with fast wireless power and no overheating.

HOW WIRELESS CHARGING WORKS

Wireless chargers work by exploiting the physical principle of electromagnetic induction with the aim of recharging solely through contact between the charging station and device. Once the charger is connected to the power supply, it is energised and generates energy in the form of an electromagnetic field, which can then be transferred to a compatible receiver device when correctly positioned.

This presupposes that the device to be charged has a receiver built into it, in this case with Qi technology, to be able to enjoy the benefits of wireless charging.

Furthermore, such devices possess mandatory quality certifications that make wireless safe, reliable and highly efficient.

BENEFITS OF QI WIRELESS CHARGING

If you are still undecided about buying a wireless charger, here is a quick list of advantages and disadvantages associated with this type of charging:

Advantages:

- It is the perfect solution for those who do not want to use a large number of cables or want to avoid plugging their devices into the socket each time

- Simply place your device down for a full charge, all in a convenient way and without the hindrance of wires

- Not having to constantly introduce and remove a cable from your device allows the charging port not to wear out

- Products with certified Qi technology are safe and do not damage the battery and prevent overheating

Usage requirements:

- The device while charging must remain correctly positioned on the charger

- Wireless charging speed is different from wired chargers, but you can still equip yourself with a wireless charger up to 15 Watts to power your devices quickly
